Yuvraj, Dhoni steer India to victory over Sri Lanka

Yuvraj Singh returned to form just at the right time with a fantastic innings of 76 from just 70 balls and led India to a nail-biting two-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in their vital Commonwealth Bank Series match at Adelaide. This was the eighth match of the series and the third between the two teams. Chasing a target of 239 for victory, India achieved it with only five balls to spare.
Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni again led his team from the front and saw India through with an unbeaten 50, which contained not even a single hit to the fence. This showed how this big-hitting wicketkeeper-batsman adjusted his game according to the demands of the situation. Rohit Sharma and Irfan Pathan also played important roles in forming valuable partnerships with Yuvraj and Dhoni. While Sharma made 26, Pathan made 31.
Earlier, Kumar Sangakkara and skipper Mahela Jayewardene added 153 runs for the third wicket after the Sri Lankans were tottering at 6 for 2 losing both the openers. While Sangakkara scored a magnificent 128, Jayewardene was unfortunate to be run out for 71 when a straight drive by Sangakkara deflected off the bowler's hand onto the stumps at the non-striker's end. Sanath Jayasuriya had also been out in a similar fashion earlier in the innings. For Sri Lanka, Chamara Kapugedera was also run out by a brilliant throw from Rohit Sharma at point.

Sangakkara was adjudged the Man of the Match.
