Shakib Al Hasan’s efforts in vain, Pakistan lead 4-0
Pakistan beat Bangladesh in the 4th ODI at Multan by a comfortable margin of seven wickets. Chasing a target of 211 for victory, the home team wrapped up the match scoring 212 for 3 with more than five overs to spare. With this victory, Pakistan now lead 4-0 in the five-match series.
Bangladesh could manage a respectable total of 210 due to a single-handed effort by Shakib Al Hasan. With the bat, he scored more than half of his team’s total with an excellent 108. Along with tail-ender Mashrafe Mortaza, Shakib added 97 runs for the ninth wicket, a record for Bangladesh. From 109 for 8 to 210 – it was an almost incredible recovery mainly due to the brilliance of Shakib. He shone with the ball also, claiming 1 for 34 in the Pakistan innings. With the exception of Shakib and Mortaza, the rest of the Bangladeshi batsmen made really a dismal picture. For Pakistan, Umar Gul and Sohail Khan claimed three wickets each.
Pakistan had no trouble whatsoever in chasing the Bangladesh total. Salman Butt and Kamran Akmal again gave the team a flying start before Akmal left for 36. Butt scored 74 before being run out, and Bazid Khan, son of Pakistani great Mazid Khan, went on to score 51 after a slow start. Mohammad Yousuf scored the winning runs by sweeping Abdur Razzak for a boundary, achieving the target in 44.3 overs.
