Malaysia stun Zimbabwe in U-19 World Cup

Malaysia caused a major upset when they beat favorites Zimbabwe by 70 runs in the Under-19 World Cup in Malaysia. After setting Zimbabwe a target of 195 for victory, the home team dismissed them for only 124. Ahmed Faiz, Malaysian captain, was the highest scorer for the team with 50, while their bowling heroes were Shahid Aslan (3/41), Aminudin Ramly (2/20) and Nik Azril (2/15).
In other matches West Indies, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka registered comfortable victories against Papua New Guinea, Ireland and Namibia respectively.
After scoring 319 that included a fine 101 off 86 deliveries by Steven Jacob, the West Indies bundled out Papua New Guinea for 143 to win the match by 176 runs. For the winning team senior team member Dwayne Bravo’s brother, Darren scored 59.
Dismissing Ireland for a paltry 123, Bangladesh achieved the target losing only two wickets. For Bangladesh, Ashraful Hossain scored an unbeaten 71 while off-spinner Mahmudul Hasan claimed 4 wickets for 17. 

Sri Lanka defeated Namibia by 163 runs. In reply to Sri Lanka’s 247 for 7, Namibia were all out for 84. While Lahiru Thirrimanne was the top scorer for Sri Lanka with 68, Sachith Pathirana shone with the ball taking 4 wickets for 31.
