Kohli ton in India’s win against Bangladesh
India beat Bangladesh by six wickets in an inconsequential match of the ODI tri-series at Mirpur, Dhaka on January 11. Reply to Bangladesh’s 247 for 6, India finished with 249 for 4 in exactly 43 overs.
The Indian run chase was dominated by Virat Kohli, who has been in tremendous form since the home series against Sri Lanka. He remained unbeaten on 102 off 95 deliveries, his second ODI century in his fledgling career. Except for Yuvraj Singh who fell cheaply for 13, all other batsmen made useful contributions – Gautam Gambhir (41), Dinesh Karthik (34) and skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni (32). Suresh Raina remained not out on 18. For Bangladesh, Naeem Islam took 2 for 35.
From 95 for 5, Bangladesh managed to reach a respectable total of 247 for 6 thanks to a 106-run partnership for the sixth wicket between skipper Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah. Shakib was finally dismissed for 85, but Mahmudullah remained unbeaten on 64. Ashish Nehra took 2 for 58.
Kohli was adjudged Man of the Match.
